Patrick McLaughlin is an award winning cinematographer, camera operator/ field director and writer based in Calgary, Alberta.
For the past few decades he has worked professionally as a cinematographer on features, shorts, commercials, documentaries, music videos, reality shows, concerts and corporate videos for a wide variety of broadcast and corporate clients. His client list includes CBC, CTV, NFB, Discovery, PBS, YTV, Odeon, E-One, Movie Central, Documentary Channel, A-Channel, Animal Planet, Omni, City TV, Slice, Global, The Cave, Bravo!, Much Music, SCN, Superchannel, VisionTV, Yes TV, Book TV, Moviola, APTN, CMT, SportsNet, A&E and W.
Patrick brings a vast portfolio of experience and is comfortable working in all genres and formats of motion picture. He has traveled the spectrum of the medium, from narrative to documentary, commercial to experimental, feature to short, film to 4k, and consistently brings his vibrant passion for filmmaking to every project.
Among Patrick’s strongest influences are the work of cinematographers Robby Muller, Christopher Doyle, Pin Bing Lee, Martin Duckworth, and Ed Lachman; street photographers Fred Herzog and Vivian Maier; photo journalists Lynsey Addario, Sebastiao Salgado, and Liu Zheng; and the filmmakers Wang Xiaoshuai and Jia Zhangke.
